Mara Bergman

Mara Bergman was born on the 29th of February 1956. She grew up in Wantagh, New York, and attended Wantagh High School and the University of the State of New York at Oneonta. From the age of twelve, Mara wanted to be writer and started writing poetry and stories. After moving to England in 1983 she started to work for the children’s publisher Walker Books. It was when her three children were young that she decided to write for children because she loved the form and loved working with artists who would illustrate her words. Mara has had many books published.
