Mar Thoma V In 1728 the 4th Mar Thoma consecrated the Mar Thoma V. In 1752 when Mar Baselios and Mar Gregorios came to Malankara, they insisted that he should receive their Kaiveppu (laying of hands) but he refused to comply. Not only that, he consecrated the VIth Mar Thoma without any assistance from foreign Bishops thus severing all allegiance to foreign bishops. He died on May 8, 1765 and laid to rest at Niranam Palli.
