Mar Elias

Mar Elias (Arabic: مار الياس) is a Christian Saint; very well known and worshiped by Christians in Lebanon.
Mar Elias was also given as name for a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, by Beirut. The camp is exclusively Christian, when the refugees arrived the Christian Palestinians asked for a camp separate from the Muslim Palestinians, the UN complied and established Mar Elias.[citations needed]
In 2002 there were 1,406 registered refugees in the camp.
