María Teresa Hincapié

Maria Teresa Hincapie was a well known Colombian performance artist. She was born in 1956 in Armenia the capital of the department of Quindio. She died from breast cancer on the 18th January 2008. Her initial studies were in acting and she developed her work towards the camp of performance art, where she stood out as being at the vanguard of this artistic field in Colombia.

She studied in France, Indonesia, India and Japan. She was a member of the theatrical group Acto Latino (Latin Act). She obtained first prize at the XXXIII Salon of Colombian Artists in 1990 with her work Una cosa es una cosa.
