Mars path in the sky during opposition 2003
Each blue dot represents the position of Mars every 24 hr. Retrograde starts at approx. 30 JLY 2003 and ends approx. 28 SEP 2003. The yellow line shows the path of the Earth's shadow (opposite to the sun in the sky). The white double-circle shows the location of the shadow at opposition (or at maximum retrograde) (approx. 30 AUG 2003).
