[edit] Fair use for Fifth Labour Government of New Zealand

This image, MargaretWilson.jpg, is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (gadfium) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. it is a promotional photo of public figures taken in an official context;
  2. it is a good illustration of the subjects of the article; and
  3. permission has been given for publication of the image.
  4. The image is not replaceable, since it shows three of the key figures of the Fifth Labour Government of New Zealand together, at a unique time in New Zealand's history when all three positions were occupied by women. Dame Cartright has since finished her term of office and so this combination will never be repeated.
  5. There is a huge difference between a photo of three people together and three separate photos of those people, taken on different occasions. This photo was taken at the occasion when the last of these three people gained her office, so this was a unique occasion.
  6. No known free replacement image is available to show the situation described.
