The Maple Ridge Pipe Band has been an important fixture in Pacific Northwest piping competitions since it was founded in 1948. In more recent years, especially from 2000 onwards, it has been a contender in the closely fought Grade II competitions sanctioned by the British Columbia Pipers Association. Here, they compete against the Chilliwack and District Pipe Band and the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band for prizes in Highland Games ranging from Portland, Oregon to Penticton, British Columbia. Historically, wins have been almost evenly split between RMM and Maple Ridge, but as of 2006 the former has gained a decisive upper hand.
