Maoririder, I have removed your disputed tag from the article. The disputed tag is generally used when there is a conflict between Wiki editors (or groups of editors) - not when a minor claim could go either way. In addition, it is usually placed at the top of the page rather than in the middle of a sentence. I hope you'll continue to improve this article. ESkog | Talk 17:00, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Please do not flood an article with tags without offering an explanation. Thank you. McPhail 22:01, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Howdy, stranger. :) While we're at it, what more can you add about that Dido song? Just saying "Hunter is a song by Dido" is a speedy delete. Can ya fix it? Gotta run, but it's good seeing you. I'm glad the ugliness is over. - Lucky 6.9 20:09, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Yeah Lucky man really upset about the way i said that stuff man really sorry.
Water under the bridge, pal. Don't worry about it. Let's move forward and make a really great editor out of you. Just remember: A stub should be between three and ten sentences long and should define the title. In other words, if you can add two more good sentences (like what album it's on, who wrote it, whether or not it was a single, etc.) we now have a really good, workable stub. OK? Always feel free to leave word on my talk page or on my e-mail. - Lucky 6.9 20:15, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Trust me: You're OK. I need to run but I'll be back a bit later. I have to cram five days' work into only three days if I want the Thanksgiving weekend off. In fact, I'll do a little research on that Dido song first. That should help give you a better idea of what a stub should look like. Take care and like I said, don't worry. Everything's cool. - Lucky 6.9 20:21, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Lucky while i'm away i bet you will be so happy to get rid of me seriously but really listen lucky i'm only trying to help please my contributions need tweaking. MAO
I understand. Take a look at Hunter (song) now. That's what a basic stub should look like and it only took a couple of minutes. In fact, there was good info about the song at the No Angel article. Got a bit more info online...boom! Music stub. Sadly, I've got to get back to work. I hope I've helped. - Lucky 6.9 20:34, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Lucky you there? Maoririder 23:12, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Toronto Blue Jays roster
Maori, I have reverted your edit to this article and wanted to explain it to you. The use of the template you used is for only pages which are the primary, but not the only, meaning of the term. This isn't one of those cases, since Toronto Blue Jays is its own article. Leave me a note on my talk page (or here; I have you on my watchlist now) if you have any questions about this. ESkog | Talk 04:10, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Archiving talk page?
Maori, your talk page is getting a bit long. Would you like some help archiving it? This would move older discussions to a "back page" and allow you to see the new stuff more clearly. ESkog | Talk 04:10, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tags
Just like creating a bunch of stubs, adding tags to a lot of random articles (such as expand, attention, cleanup, reqimage) is something that is probably not a good use of your time. Especially if you use the attention tag, you should probably leave a note on the talk page of that article which explains what you feel the article needs to make it better. Also, you probably should only use one of these tags on an article at a time - if there are several on the same article it looks really messy. Here is a summary of the correct use of the tags you have been using:
- Expand/Expansion - should ONLY be placed on an article's talk page (read the template), with an explanation of what needs expanding. Do not place this tag on the main page. It is used to indicate that an article, or a section of the article, needs more information.
- Attention - should be used sparingly, as there are more detailed options elsewhere. It should be placed at the top of the article page.
- Cleanup - sends the article to the cleanup task force, but still not very detailed. It should be placed at the top of the article page.
- Reqimage - used when you believe that an article would be better with an image. This too should only be placed on the TALK page of an article, not the main page.
Let me know if there's anything I can do to clarify this further, or if there's an article you'd like me to work with you on improving. ESkog | Talk 22:00, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- I can't help but notice that you're ignoring my advice and still mass-tagging articles with 3-4 tags at once. Is there something in my request that I can help you understand? ESkog | Talk 03:29, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mentorship
Maoririder, the Arbitration Committee has referred you to the Mediation Committee. We would be happy to mentor you and guide you so that you can contribute to Wikipedia. You can contact any member of the Mediation Committee at any time; we're all willing to help you mature and develop as a Wikipedia editor. First, though, I'd like to mention something about creating extremely short articles, such as the one you created at List of actors who have been in trouble with the law. The content was "Robert Downey Jr. has had many run ins with the authorites." The Wikipedia community and the ArbCom have frowned upon the constant creation of such articles, often referred to as stubs or sub-stubs. Wikipedia policy states that stubs should consist of "3 to 10 short sentences"; the articles that you have been creating are often only one sentence and often little or no context or information, which is again frowned upon. We definitely encourage editors to be bold and start new articles, but it would be extremely helpful if you could start writing more in your stubs, providing more information, context, or content. Back to our example article — while a list of actors who have had run-ins with the law may be encyclopedic, creating such an article and only mentioning one actor and that he had a run-in with the authorities is unhelpful. More information must be provided for it to exist as an article or list; information such as why Blake had a run-in with the law, a background paragraph, an introductory paragraph, and more to the list than just one person. Could I suggest that you read over Wikipedia:Your first article again and tell me if you have any questions? Thanks a lot. Once you have finished reading it over, please indicate so and we can proceed from there. Thank you once again for your understanding; I look forward to helping you become a successful Wikipedia editor. Flcelloguy (A note?) 23:08, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- Maoririder, please indicate whether or not you have reviewed (and fully comprehended) Wikipedia:Your first article before creating any more stubs. Though the ArbCom has referred you to us, we're here to help you; creating more articles in the same fashion without indicating whether or not you have read the page isn't helpful. Please read the page before creating any more articles and indicate here once you have done so; otherwise, your sub-stubs will be deleted. We're here to help, and your cooperation will only make the process go so much smoother, faster, and more efficiently. Thanks very much. Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:48, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
- P.S. I've gone through and deleted some of your new creations. Once you have reviewed Wikipedia:Your first article and indicated so, I will gladly restore them and help you create true stubs. For now, though, please don't create any new articles until you've read Wikipedia:Your first article, comprehended it, and indicated so. Thanks very much for your understanding! Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:56, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Whazzup?!?
Merry Christmas! Hope you're OK. I'm working afternoons now so, here I am. - Lucky 6.9 17:36, 6 December 2005 (UTC) Merry Lucky! Maoririder 17:38, 6 December 2005 (UTC) Can you help me with the new articles? and whats up with no editing for unregistered users my friend wants to edit but he don't want a user name... Maoririder 17:38, 6 December 2005 (UTC) did no many people vandalise or something? Maoririder 17:38, 6 December 2005 (UTC) anyway thanks lucky.
Anytime. Your friend's right. Unregistered users can't edit because an anonymous editor created an article on a rather important man that was totally false. It stayed on the site for months. When he found out, he was very angry, is threatening to sue Wikipedia and the story is all over the newspapers. I saw it in USA Today over at work. - Lucky 6.9 17:48, 6 December 2005 (UTC) Yeah I just saw it Kennedy...Maoririder 18:45, 6 December 2005 (UTC) that is to bad.
[edit] Regarding Deletion
I notice another user has nominated one of your articles, Howard C. Reiche, for speedy deletion. One of our rules for speedy deletion allows for the removal of biographical articles which do not claim notability. Since your article was just one sentence long, it may have been hard for this editor to understand the background of the article. If you disagree with that, then you should leave a message with that user, or improve the article so it is clear why Mr. Reiche is notable.
-
- That was me, and Lucky has now explained the situation and remopved the speedy tag. If you want a hand, please feel free to give me a shout! Tonywalton | Talk 20:14, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
More importantly, I have noticed that you often attempt to place your own articles on Articles for Deletion. This is not a correct use of this page and some editors may find it disruptive or abusive. You should only use AFD when you believe that a page should be deleted. If someone else believes a page you have created doesn't belong here, they will definitely nominate it themselves.
As always, leave me a note on my talk page or reply here if you have any questions. It's good to see you back here, and I hope we can help you make valuable contributions to Wikipedia. ESkog | Talk 17:50, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
OK, I found the school's website. Still no biography on Mr. Reiche. However, I just e-mailed the school's principal with an explanation of our problem. I hope to hear back from her shortly. We'll make a good article out of this, don't you worry. - Lucky 6.9 18:04, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
You actually e-mailed the howard c reiche principal and will find out about howard c. reiche you are the best lucky how long will it take? Maoririder 18:21, 6 December 2005 (UTC) get back to me. Lucky I just got blocked by joanna or something i did apst nothing wrong! Please lucky help me unblock I'm sorry if i broke the rules someone is framing me! Maoririder 18:23, 6 December 2005 (UTC) no bull.
Yup. One e-mail on its way. You got blocked...? Let me check. - Lucky 6.9 18:25, 6 December 2005 (UTC) thanks lucky. Maoririder 18:25, 6 December 2005 (UTC) joannab or something like that blocked me the ipnumber i dont know! Maoririder 18:25, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Don't panic. :) I checked the block log. She didn't block you, but the IP. In fact, she blocked two that were vandalizing. I unblocked both numbers so that you can edit. That happens sometimes. Not your fault or hers. We'll just have to deal with the vandalism as it happens.
Getting back to our friend, Mr. Reiche: You might be going at this backwards. I assume you either live near the school or went there. An article is a good idea, so you write what you know, namely that Howard Reiche has a school named after him. Not good from a Wikipedia standpoint. Here's a new article that I rewrote over at another wiki and moved here this morning: O.S. Max. I knew that O.S. Max made model engines, they're in Japan, but that's all I knew. Heck, my own gas-powered monster truck has an Orion, not an O.S. I don't own an O.S. engine. The company website had a history and timeline. All I had to do was to use that info and write an article in my own words. I added a few Wikipedia wikis and categories and we now have a good, short article on a notable engine manufacturer. If I did it the way you did this one by simply writing "O.S. Max is an engine manufacturer in Japan," boom. Speedy delete for no content. That's pretty much how it started at the other wiki. Do you see what I'm telling you? - Lucky 6.9 18:34, 6 December 2005 (UTC) you are saying howard c. reiche is not wikipedia material??? but i thought anyone can add a new article the "free" encyclopedia lucky... Maoririder 18:37, 6 December 2005 (UTC) thanks. so what did the principal say about howard c. reiche the founder...?
No, I didn't say that Mr. Reiche wasn't worthy of Wikipedia. The article you created doesn't say enough about him. Haven't heard back from the principal yet. I fixed Pizza Planet, by the way. I wrote what I remembered from the film and added a bit more info from Google. There's a restaurant by the same name at Disneyland Paris. I know from experience the original Disneyland doesn't have a restaurant like that! :) - Lucky 6.9 18:48, 6 December 2005 (UTC) thanksMaoririder 18:49, 6 December 2005 (UTC) google is the best for information right whats up with yahoo!???Maoririder 18:49, 6 December 2005 (UTC) anyway google is the best thanks lucky!!!! lucky you taking a break or will be around for guidance??Maoririder 18:54, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
I'll be on and off. I now work full time on the air doing the afternoon drive at the radio station I work for! My shift is from 3-7 and I don't have to be there until about 2:00. I need to do some things around the house - namely, finishing the repair of my kitchen sink - but I'll be on and off. Check out Little Green Men in the meantime. - Lucky 6.9 18:58, 6 December 2005 (UTC) got your message and lucky the principal really get the e-mail??Maoririder 19:00, 6 December 2005 (UTC) i really wish google had more on howard c. reiche??? Maoririder 19:00, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
I wish it did, too. Lots of little blurbs on the school, but no history of the school and no biography on Howard Reiche. I'm sure I'll hear from the principal soon, but it's nearly the end of the school day over there and she's probably busy. - Lucky 6.9 19:04, 6 December 2005 (UTC) what else can you help with lucky??
Not much right now; I have to sign off. Just remember this: When you do a stub, try to make it at least three sentences long. Three good sentences with lots of info. One sentence just isn't long enough. Talk to you soon. Best, Lucky 6.9 19:13, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cat Saver
Regarding your contribution at this article, remember a few rules of thumb:
- The {{reqimage}} template should only be placed on article talk pages.
- You should generally not submit your own creations for Articles for Deletion.
- If you do make a submission to Articles for Deletion, make sure you follow the steps listed at the bottom of this page to complete the submission.
- Remember that if you nominate a page for deletion, you should not be voting keep. By placing the page there you are saying the page should be removed.
People are trying to help you become a great Wikipedia editor. Please take our advice. ESkog | Talk 20:27, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
- Similar problems occur at Pickles the Clown. Maoririder, might I suggest that you stop using the AFD tags altogether for a while? One of us can walk you through the process if you find an article you believe should be deleted. ESkog | Talk 20:34, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Your comments on User:Northernwolves
I have removed your comment "Where are the contributions?" from Northernwolves's user page. In general, we do not edit each other's user pages except to clean up occasional vandalism. Here are two possible answers to your question:
- When you are browsing any user's page or user talk page, one of the links in the "toolbox" on the left side is to "User contributions."
- Your contributions can always be found at a link on the top right corner of the page called "my contributions."
Hope this helps. ESkog | Talk 20:39, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mentorship
Hello, Maoririder! I'm glad to see that you've returned and started contributing again. However, I would greatly appreciate it if you would respond to some of my messages and confirm that you're reading them. I hope you understand the situation you're in: the Wikipedia Arbitration Committee has assigned you a mentorship with the Wikipedia Mediation Committee, which I am a member of. We all deeply appreciate your contributions, but I must reiterate this point: you must communicate with us and reply to our messages in order for the mentorship to be effective. At this point, Lucky 6.9 and some other users are guiding you very well and I'm glad that you communicate with them, but you must also, at the very least, acknowledge that you're reading this message. All I'm asking you to do is to note here that you understand the situation and have read our previous messages, and then indicate that you will read Wikipedia:Your first article before creating any new articles. Wikipedia:Your first article is concise, brief, and extremely important; it shouldn't take long to read and will hopefully increase your awareness of Wikipedia policy. Don't hesistate to ask me if you have any questions at all, or if you have any comments regarding the situation. Thanks for your understanding, and hope to hear from you soon! Flcelloguy (A note?) 01:06, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tags again
Maoririder, please listen to our directions - it gets frustrating cleaning up the same mistakes, and we are all trying to help you.
- Please do not put 4 tags (reqimage, cleanup, expand, etc) on the same article. As a rule of thumb, no article should have more than one tag at a time - two in extreme cases.
- Remember that the reqimage tag is only for article talk pages. The reason for this is that we don't need to advertise to our readers that "something is not here."
- Please read Ficelloguy's comments on this talk page and respond to him. Since your request for arbitration, you have been asked to participate in mediation. He, too, like Lucky and me, wants to see you become a better Wikipedian.
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out. ESkog | Talk 16:48, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Raft spider
I have attempted to create a stub here to model for you what one should look like. I don't know anything about these spiders so maybe you can add more. Here's what I did, so maybe you can practice creating better stubs based on this:
- I found similar spider pages at Category:Spiders.
- I searched using Google to see if I could find enough for three good sentences, as well as the classification information in the infobox.
- I found the appropriate stub tag and added the link where I found my basic information.
Is there another article we can try to create together? ESkog | Talk 17:01, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
We did it! Take a look at what we've done together. Remember: Three good sentences. No more single sentence stubs. We can do this. - Lucky 6.9 17:10, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

- Alright, let's go for it. It looks like Guts Man redirects to Mega Man, which means we don't want a separate article on that and Mega Man covers it. However, we do have a very good article on Proto Man. Search online and see if you can find a couple of sources for Shademan, and I'll help you clean up. Remember that your stub should have at least three good sentences, and more if you can get it. ESkog | Talk 17:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

- I don't think that's going to be too useful - it looks like an advertisement for something for sale. You might try searching Google for "Shade Man" (two words in quotation marks) and see what comes up that way. ESkog | Talk 17:11, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

- Well, we need to be careful with pictures. Most of them are copyrighted, which means we can't just take them and use them here in Wikipedia. ESkog | Talk 17:13, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
then how can we get a image of shademan?? it might take awhile??Maoririder 17:15, 9 December 2005 (UTC) anyway the article is important. if you start it let me know.
There are probably pictures we can use, but let's get us some text first. Three sentences. You have one. Let's see two more, mister. :) - Lucky 6.9 17:16, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
You're right, it might take a while, so let's focus on the article first. I need to go run some errands, so feel free to get started. I'll be back in a couple hours to see how things are going. ESkog | Talk 17:17, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
thanks again eskog. Shademan is a villian on Mega Man. He wears dark clothing. He has a evil laugh.Maoririder 17:18, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
You mean like MWAAAHAAAHAAAAAA? :) Here's what I've been able to find out right here on ol' Wikipedia. Our friend's name is "Shade Man" and he is an evil boss on Mega Man VII. There's a drawing of Shade Man on that article, but he doesn't seem to be much more than a boss that you have to beat to move to the next level. - Lucky 6.9 17:22, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Coldplay is, without a doubt, the greatest progressive rock band since Pink Floyd broke up. My jaw hit the ground the first time I heard "Clocks." My close friend in Atlanta is an expert in progressive rock and has very special musical tastes. He saw them in concert down there and thought it was one of the greatest shows he'd ever seen...and that ol' boy has seen a lot of concerts. I can't stay online much longer, but I'd love to do some articles related to them. - Lucky 6.9 17:33, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
I also love Bjork.Maoririder 17:34, 9 December 2005 (UTC) you know her?
Not personally. :)) I'm not as into her as I am Coldplay. Bit too "whiny" for my tastes, I'm afraid. On the other hand, take a peek at Shade Man. You gonna like this. - Lucky 6.9 17:39, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Waaaay too "pop" for me, thanks. I'm more into classic rock, blues, jazz and classical. Since I work for a country radio station, I've even developed a taste for the uptempo, fun songs. As far as that video game designer is concerned, I'm going to give you a cyber-noogie, ya nut. We have only one sentence. Again. Try to Google the name and see what you come up with. Gotta run. - Lucky 6.9 17:48, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
im a nut sorry lucky bye bye.
Yes, but you're a nice nut. Have fun and don't forget to expand the article on the designer when you have a moment. By the way, still no word from that school principal. We may have a dead end since there's no way of knowing who that Reiche fellow is/was. Can you go by the school office and talk to someone there? They may have something in print about him that you can use. - Lucky 6.9 17:54, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Please, as tempting as it is to respond to idiotic Afcs like this, try to restrain yourself and just delete it instantly. -- user:zanimum

[edit] Mentorship
The arbcom ruled that you needed some mentorship, what happened to that? I suggest going over to The Mentorship Committee right away. karmafist 18:15, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Busy
Well, I see you've been busy since we last spoke. You have created a lot of articles which are one sentence long and hoped others would clean them up. We're doing a better job of that than we have in the past, but it still creates a lot of work for a lot of people. Instead of making 10 one-sentence stubs, try to make one good one. I think we've got some good starts at Raft spider and Shade Man - now I'd like to see you create something like that on your own. ESkog | Talk 19:02, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
That was a good catch on finding that fansite that described Shade Man! Take a look and see how I linked to it. And yes, I did catch the offensive/defensive boo-boo. Gotta cut the old guy some slack, Maori! I never played this here fancy video game! :)) - Lucky 6.9 21:17, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, and I just added this to List of video game bosses. Gotta run! - Lucky 6.9 21:22, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
i need help with my watchlist its getting big...Maoririder 21:46, 12 December 2005 (UTC) thanks
Hey, I think Talk has made a good point, please focus on developing some of your stubs rather than making us folks tag all your new articles with {context} or {nonsense} or similar. I'm sure you've got plenty to add, so please try to do it in a more positive way! Budgiekiller 22:04, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
