[edit] Distribution

This species is endemic to Spirits Bay at the northern tip of the North Island of New Zealand.

[edit] Habitat

This snail is found at depths of about 60 m.

[edit] Shell description

The shell is rather small, broadly conical, with straight spire outlines. It is similar to Maoricolpus roseus roseus in that there are three main cords on the spire-whorls, the uppermost at about four-fifths whorl height, and the other two towards the lower suture. At the periphery of the body whorl the two cords are wider apart than Maoricolpus roseus roseus, and the coloration is different, being pale buff, with a tesselated pattern of small squarish brown dots, on both the cords and the threads, and arranged axially in sinuous lines, corresponding to the curve of the broad median outer lip sinus.

The shell height is up to 14.5 mm, and the width is up to 5.5 mm.
