This is a Chinese name; the family name is Mao (毛).

Mao Jie (? - 216) was an ancient China III c. servant under the Kingdom of Wei and minister to Cao Cao. Under the recommendation of Man Chong, Mao Jie joined Cao Cao. Jie was very skilled when it came to domestic policies promoting the prioritization of agriculture. While Mao Jie stationed himself at Jing, during the Battle of Chi Bi, he was chosen with Yu Jin as the naval viceroy after Cai Mao was executed for his failures.
