[edit] Greetings

Welcome Jay,

You have done a good job so far in Wikipedia (a.k.a. 'Pedia or WP). I can see that you're a serious Wikipedian interested in improving our project. If you stay for a while, you'll discovered that collectively, we're a cooperative and friendly community. We are all here to learn, and hopefully can give something back. If you have questions or doubts of any sort, do not hesitate to post them on the Village Pump, somebody will respond ASAP. Other helpful pages include:

Just keep in mind that while relevant discussions and constructive criticisms and are welcome, unproductive and/or destructive insults are not (see Wikiquette).

Who knows? Perhaps you'll soon become a Wikipediholic and make it into the list of Wikipedia:Most active Wikipedians! :-) --Menchi 09:34, Aug 17, 2003 (UTC)
p.s. Simply type four tildes (~~~~), then you can sign you name and date like I just did with mine. And please always do so after your post in Talk/discussion pages and Village Pump.

Hello! Hope you enjoy your stay here. Very nice contributions to scouting articles, btw. Thanks for the compliment on the maps. :) --seav 02:16, Aug 19, 2003 (UTC)

Thank you! Mang Kiko 03:37, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Chinese Filipinos

Hey, since you're Filipino-Chinese (like me) can you create a page called "Filipino Chinese" or "Chinese Filipinos" Kennethduncan 09:04, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)Kennethduncan

[edit] Your scout woodbadge bead pic

Thanks for uploading Image:Scout woodbadge beads.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) Thanks so much, Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 22:30, Oct 5, 2004 (UTC)

While you're at that, Image:Achregerisk.jpg needs to be tagged as well. Thanks! --Ricky81682 (talk) 22:41, Dec 18, 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for taking care of those! How about the Baybayin images Image:Baybayin alpha.jpg, Image:Baybayin sample 01.jpg, Image:Baybayin sample 02.jpg, and Image:Baybayin sample 03.jpg. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 17:59, Jan 31, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Filipino Wikipedians

Hi, you were listed in the Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Philippines page as living in or being associated with Philippines. As part of the Wikipedia:User categorisation project, these lists are being replaced with user categories. If you would like to add yourself to the category that is replacing the page, please add [[Category:Filipino Wikipedians|{{subst:PAGENAME}}]] to your user page. Thanks. :) Coffee 03:19, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

Since you appear to be inactive, I went ahead and placed the category on your user page. Coffee 04:20, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Eagle Scout

Did you become an Eagle and Wood Badger in the Philippines or in America? Do the Philippine Scouts use the red/white/blue knot too? Just curious. We just started creating Wikipedia:WikiProject Scouting, which encompasses all Scouting. The initial members are mostly from America, so we could really use those with expertise from other areas. Visit the project page (just create yesterday, so I'm not done) and help spread the word. Rlevse 16:40, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

I am an Eagle Scout and Wood Badgers from the Philippines. I am living in the United States at present. If you were asking about the award knot, we do use a red/white/blue knot, but the Philippines uses a carrick bend instead of a square knot. I'd be glad to assist whatever I can --Mang Kiko 03:41, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Great. I saw you signed up on the project. Feel free to help where you wish. I saw the images of the Eagle awards last night in an article on Wiki about Scouting in the Philippines. Rlevse 11:10, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Scouting Barnstar

Did you see this proposal? Scouting Barnstar --evrik 19:48, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

No, this is the first time I learned about this Mang Kiko 23:47, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
  • Do you think you can create a new version of the barnstar that has a merit badge background and a bronze star?evrik 01:02, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Scouting Barnstar - Where to put it?

I believe that the award that was created for the Scouting Barnstar should be a topical award. Scouting is a world-wide movement that has served youth in many countries for more than 100 years and represents the youth of the world at the United Nations.

It has been suggested that the award be given as a PUA. The first line on the PUA page reads, "This page provides a collection of awards created by individual Wikipedians." The Scouting Barnstar was created by the WikiProject Scouting.

Currently, the is a discussion going on at Wikipedia_talk:Barnstars#Removed_the_scouting_barnstar. Please comment there if you are interested.evrik

[edit] Zen wisdom

From the WikiMedia User Edit Counter Page:

A novice was once curious about the nature of the Edit Count. He approached the Zen master and asked, "Zen master, what is the nature of the Edit Count?" "The Edit Count is as a road," replied the Zen master. "You must travel the road to reach your destination, and some may travel longer roads than others. But do not judge the person at your door by the length of the road he has travelled to reach you." And the novice was Enlightened.

A novice was once curious about the nature of the Edit Count. He approached the Zen master and asked, "Zen master, what is the nature of the Edit Count?", but the master knew better than to give him answers that would only feed the mind. “The night is getting old – why don’t you retire?” said the master. So the novice proceeded to return to his room to retire and upon opening the door he saw the Zen master already sitting inside the room. At that moment the mind of the novice was opened (there is a shorter way, but I must secure the backdoor). -Mang Kiko 08:34, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Scouting article work

If you are getting this, it is because you do or did work on Scouting articles (see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Scouting#Participants_and_primary_areas_of_interest).

As the Scouting WikiProject has been formed since early January 2006, we've had many great improvements made in this area of Wiki and I want to personally thank everyone for their help. We don't always agree on things, but we keep moving forward. YIS, Rlevse 22:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Or just anything you can do to help us just like what you are doing there at the English Wikipedia.

Thank you in advance and regards, Tagalog Wikipedia Community

Finally, Wikipedia is the 7th most visited site in the Philippines. Then why is it that the Tagalog Wikipedia, the Wikipedia in your own language remains unknown to most of the Filipinos? The mission of this campaign is to change that. Will you join us?
