[edit] David Jones (drummer)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of David Jones (drummer), and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.davidjonesdrums.com.au/about.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 03:40, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of David Jones (drummer)

A tag has been placed on David Jones (drummer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion G12.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] David Jones

There's some paperwork about somewhere that I'm sure someone will direct you to, but quick aside- realise that when you put it here, it won't stay the way it is and it won't stay on wikipedia. You're saying "Please! edit my work! put it on your website, too!" Some people don't think of it, it's good to head off nasty surprises. :) Cantras 04:16, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
You can contact our permissions department, but that will not provide the notability that the subject does not have. Keegantalk 06:37, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello Mandy, I've moved some useful messages here about the David Jones articles. Just to reiterate the points here, yes, there is a way to give permission for WP to have copyright text here, and you have to follow the instructions above. Before you want to go to the trouble, you should understand a few things about how WP works:

  • people can and will edit/change what you post as Cantras points out.
  • you should check out whether Mr. Jones meets the WP criteria for notability of musicians by looking at WP:BIO, because otherwise the article risks being deleted for other reasons
  • it is generally frowned upon to create articles about yourself or people you know/are employed by, see WP:COI, partly because of the issue of advertising etc WP:SPAM.

Sorry to be the bearer of so many caveats and cautions. Get back to me if I can help with any advice or help. --Slp1 13:01, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
