The name Mandarax comes from the Kurt Vonnegut novel Galápagos.

For a long time, most of my other edits were minor improvements to articles in fields of the visual arts.

I had initially been amazed at how little vandalism was apparently occurring to the collaboratively written resource that is Wikipedia, where anybody can edit. After a little more experience, I discovered that there is, in fact, a continuous, non-stop torrent of vandalism every moment of every day, made virtually invisible to the casual viewer by the constant vigilance of volunteer vandalism scrubbers.

I have recently been devoting considerable time and energy to the anti-vandalism effort, reverting many hundreds of instances of vandalism. (And I've been doing it the old-fashioned way, without using any tools or bots.)
