[edit] William Melville as M?

Reilly became a paid informant for the émigré intelligence network of William Melville who was the superintendent of Scotland Yard's Special Branch and, according to biographer Andrew Cook, was later the clandestine head of the early British Secret Service using the code name "M."

This is what is claimed in Wikipedia's article about Sidney Reilly. Additionally, this is what it says in William Melville's article:

According to the conclusions of author Andrew Cook, his biographer, which are not accepted by all historians, Melville then became the head of British Secret Service with the code name "M".

Andrew Cook is the source for both passages... How should this Melville stuff be reflected in this article????? 216.161.152.107 04:57, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Penknife amputation

According to the book Inside Britain's Mi6: Military Intelligence 6 by Shaun McCormack, which I found through Google booksearch, the story that Cumming cut off his own leg with a penknife, is not true. According to this book hospital records show that his foot was amputated the day after the accident. I've included this in the article. The link to the page is here. Alternartively, it can be found by searching for "cumming penknife". I don't know the specifics and requirements for references, but if this qualifies, I guess it can be added. risk 02:38, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
