[edit] Name of this article appears to be wrong

I think that this properly should be called the "Manistee North Pierhead light." There is a navigational pierhead light on the south pier, which we should allow for. More importantly, the original Manistee Light (which is not in the list of U.S. lighthouses, I might add), is on the shore. See Terry Pepper Manistee Main lighthouse. We don't have an article on the Manistee Main lighthouse. I respectfully suggest that this article should be renamed, so that we can correct this oversight and the confusion. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 18:52, 17 April 2008 (UTC) Stan

I think we could just name this one "Manistee Pierhead Light", as I doubt the navigational light on the south pierhead would have enough available on it to qualify as notable under Wikipedia guidelines. I could be wrong on that one, but I find it unlikely that there would be enough to justify an article for the navigational light. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:01, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Or we could do "Manistee Pierhead lights" and put in a short reference with a link maybe to a picture of the South pierhead light, too. I think that it's not very interesting, and in fact would just be a rehash of a lot of the material on the North Pierhead light. Terry Pepper doesn't have an article on the South pierhead light. Here's a link to a picture of the South pierhead light (across from the North light). http://www.lighthouseseeker.com/Lighthouses/020manistee_north_pierhead_jan03.jpg 7&6=thirteen (talk) 19:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC) Stan
I haven't read Terry Pepper's info on this light, does he mention much about the south light too? For this article to be appropriately plural, I think we would need to show that the two lights had a historical association with each other of some sort. Something more than physical proximity. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:38, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, he mentions them. They are inextricably intertwined. The lighthouse started on the south pier and moved to the north pier. The fog horn has been variously on both piers. The 37 foot steel tower navigational aid was put in after the light moved to the north pier in 1927. I think that we could do both of them better together than apart. That's just my opinion, but even Terry Pepper treats them that way. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 19:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC) Stan
In that case, I agree. I'll go ahead and rename it now. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:49, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
