Talk:Manichaean paranoia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There was previously a note on this page regarding the deletion of the entry due to it being a phrase that was only just coined in the media. Is this in fact the case? Or has this term been used before. If it has been generally used, leave it. If it was just made up, then that should be indicated. Stefan Karpinski 07:29, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
I looked into this phrase a bit, and it has been used at least on the Internet in the last few years. It appears that Zbigniew Brzezinski did not invent the phrase (or at least did so independently). Perhaps it should be folded into the entry on Manichaea, but certainly not deleted entirely. Stefan Karpinski 07:50, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Here [1] is an actual usage of the phrase. It occurs in a comment far down the page. Stefan Karpinski 07:53, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it needs to be deleted. Improved, certainly, but the phrase refers to an important concept; the article should stay. Incidentally, my poli sci prof used it (actually a version... she added another adjective or something) a few months back - not during lecture, but in response to a question after class. I'm here because I wanted further information regarding the phrase. Please do not delete the page...
[edit] anon/ip removal of PROD notice
AFAIK, nothing in WP:PROD says IP's can't remove the notice. especially in the latest removal, the IP editor added info, and contested it. that is in no way vandalism, which is the only reason to restore a deleted PROD notice. if you think it should go, then it's time for WP:AFD. --barneca (talk) 21:33, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Should the topic of irony discussed in the "Zbigniew Brzezinski and George W Bush" section be initially introduced in the main description since the concept of Manichaean paranoia seems to inherently pivot on becoming what you seek to destroy? The "manifold" irony can be expanded upon in the "Zbigniew Brzezinski and George W Bush."
[edit] Bush and the conservative base
I'd like to point out that many members of his base have the same mindset. It's a major part of the fundamentalist christian worldview. So his actions have narrowed but not destroyed his base. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.238.20.205 (talk) 20:45, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Death Note
The Japanese series Death Note is a perfect example. Should we connect the pages? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.252.252.118 (talk) 05:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
