I had begining to made Manhattan into a disambiguating pages, but then I doubted...what do the rest think?

Depends on what you suppose will be most convenient for the reader. If the Manhattan island article gets too long, it might become hard to find the drink. I don't drink alcoholic beverages, so that's no hardship for me, but . . .

I guess the rule would be: disambiguate when it starts getting ambiguous.

This really seems like a bad disambiguation, since all Manhattans follow from the main Manhattan. But I don't have a much better solution. --The Cunctator

All Manhattans follow from the main Manhattan? Is it certain that Manhattan, Kansas was named for the place in New York? -- BRG
According to http://www.cis.ksu.edu/Misc/about.manhattan.html , "The city was founded in 1855 by a group of riverboat traders who hoped to establish a trading center that would rival the Manhattan of the East. The city takes its nickname, ``The Little Apple, from its New York namesake." --Brion
