Talk:Manfrin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hey, this is Mike Manfrin. I created this page to see if I could get some other Manfrin to notice it, and possibly fill in some info. I really want to find out where my family comes from, what they did, etc. If you have any info, even if it's just speculation, please put it up on the page.

[edit] Small History

Hello, this is Samuele Manfrin, living in Pisa. I have some infos to share. Our name has a particular structure, since ends with "n": normal italian names ends with a vowel, and only north-eastern names end with "n" (e.g. Visentin, Garbin, Feltrin, etc.). My grand-parents (Afra Visentin and Bruno Manfrin) were coming from Terrazzo (Google Maps), a small town SE of Verona, near Legnago. In Terrazzo they worked as farmers, but obviously in those days it was very difficult to survive. So, thanks to other friends already migrated, they moved to Sanremo in 1936, few years before WWII, because the municipality were looking for street sweepers, and in those days it was a sure job, that gave the possibility to survive well. But my grand-father, after few weeks of work, abandoned this job, and begun to work as baker, the work he made for whole life. Rumours said that our family had some grand-grand-grand parents coming from Austria, but... who knows? Note that this part of Italy was dominated by Austro-Hungarian troops at the end of '800: in fact, Afra is a Austrian name, even if his parents were both italian. In 1938, in Sanremo, was born my father (Luciano), and in 1966 I've seen the light! Then (very) later in 1984 Rebecca (my sister) was born. In 1983 Bruno Manfrin died, and in 2001 Afra closed his eyes. My father is still in Sanremo, my sister is studying psychology at University of Pavia and I'm in Pisa. I have no childrens yet, but they are in my projects... If you have other infos about your parents and grand-parents, please post it here :-)
