[edit] 2/21 Song

Hey, its Tuesday the 21st of Feb. Anyone know the name of the song that she sang on the show tonite? Thanks! Batman2005 05:20, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

"Never" by Heart

AHHHH THANKS! I was rackin my brain the whole time she was singing to figure it out, I knew I'd heard it before. Batman2005 01:41, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Did she really say this?

The following quote was added to the article: "I figure that if Jesus could die so that all of my wrongs could be forgiven, I can certainly extend that same grace to you." I saw that episode and don't remember Mandisa saying that at all. Could be my faulty brain. Can anybody confirm? -- MisterHand 02:44, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I recall similar words being said, but I don't have the transcript in front of me so I can't confirm per se. -- SwissCelt 02:15, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Those are the exact words I remember hearing. --Revolución hablar ver 19:21, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Yes, she said that - I remember it vividly. Joey 22:52, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Yes, she did. Michael 23:18, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Elimination

I'm going to leave this in the talk page for now since I haven't seen it confirmed except on message boards [1], and even then I'm not sure how enyclopedic this passage is:

After Mandisa was eliminated, a group of audience members supposedly yelled out a racial slur, which was edited out due to a 15-second delay in the live broadcast.

Kirjtc2 04:27, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
This video shows her elimination. It definitely seems like something happened. quadratic 05:32, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
There was no racial slur yelled out. The reason everyone looked so shocked is because Mandisa was a strong favorite to win the competition, so when she got booted, having never been in the bottom 3, everyone collectively "shit their pants", so to speak. Some careful video editing and a vague story of "racist remarks" makes it believeable, but there has been no official source whatsoever to have reported this. --JOK3R 06:18, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Overweight

Do you think it's a little too harsh to say "Mandisa is overweight" in the article? Would "Idol judge Simon Cowell made several comments referencing her weight during her audition" be better? Purplenite 01:23, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

HARSH!?!?! She's 280lbs! It's a fact that she's overweight. (wiki user)

How do you all know how much Mandisa weighs? TamYum 06:42, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
She has admitted herself to be "overweight". Consider her reference to "lifestyle" when people thought she met homosexuality. She said her comment was based off of her weight and how she's always given in to temptation with food. Michael 23:20, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Should be Mandisa Hundley

and have Mandisa redirect to Mandisa Hundley. (as with Fantasia Barrino) —Chantessy 21:20, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Is there a Wikipedia policy concerning single-name stage names? IIRC, Mandisa always just went by "Mandisa". If that's her stage name, then the article should probably remain "Mandisa". SnappingTurtle 13:03, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people). From the guidelines on that page: "The most used name to refer to a person is generally the one that Wikipedia will choose as page name." Based on that, this page is already named correctly. -- MisterHand 13:36, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
That settles it then, it stays just "Mandisa". That's her entire stage name. See, for example, here. SnappingTurtle 15:47, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Why has the redirect been made, then? lone_twin (talk) 07:05, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

In the case of Fantasia, such is necessitated due to disambiguation issues. If another Mandisa comes along, then a move may be needed, but otherwise, all should left as is. CrazyC83 00:54, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

I agree that it should be Mandisa, but that analogy doesn't hold good. See, for example, Monica (singer) or Brandy (entertainer). lone_twin (talk) 07:06, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Birthdate

Her birthday is not October 1, 1976, it's January 22, 1977.

It is October 1, 1976. She is five days older than Taylor Hicks. User:Arual 01:42, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Someone needs to cite the d.o.b., or it will just keep being changed back and forth. Thank you. Michael 03:28, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

I cited it- http://www.shns.com/shns/g_index2.cfm?action=detail&pk=HICKS-IDOL-03-17-06 and also see this discussion on Taylor Hicks' page. User:Arual 18:00, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Michael 01:04, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]  ?

who undid my edits about her book release date and single, they were correct

[edit] American Idol performances

There's TONS of spelling & grammar mistakes there, someone re-write it, QUICK! It looks like a 2-yr-old wrote it.
