Manuela Kasper-Claridge

Manuela Kasper-Claridge (born 26 October 1959 in Berlin, Germany) is a journalist from Germany.
Kasper-Claridge is the head of DW-TV's Business Department. DW-TV is Germany's international broadcaster and can be seen by a potential 112 million viewers around the world. DW-TV's Business Department produces business news for the hourly JOURNAL news programme as well as the weekly business magazine MADE IN GERMANY.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge is also in charge of DW-TV's Science Department which produces the weekly magazine TOMORROW TODAY.
EARLY LIFE AND CAREER:
Manuela Kasper-Claridge is the daughter of Dieter and Carmen Kasper. She has worked as a journalist since 1976.

- 1979-1984 Studied Economics and Sociology at the Freie Universität Berlin; graduated in 1984
- 1985-1986 Internship at West Berlin’s public radio and television service SFB (today RBB)
- 1986-1988 Trained TV news producers and directors
- 1988-1992 News producer for RIAS-TV; covered Germany’s Reunification, Central and Eastern European affairs; reported from Washington, D.C.
- 1992-1998 Producer for News and Business Departments of Deutsche Welle TV; produced reports and documentaries covering Europe, USA and Asia
- Since 1998 Head of DW-TV’s Business Department; covered current affairs from Japan, Thailand, USA, Poland, France, Britain and Germany; responsible for special broadcasts on the introduction of the Euro and EU expansion; conducted interviews with various political and business leaders
- Since 2001 Also responsible for DW-TV’s Science Department
In 2003 Manuela Kasper-Claridge produced a 6-part documentary on the German management consultant Roland Berger, called BERGER‘S BUSINESS. The series was filmed in Germany, France, China, Japan, Brazil andFinland. The second part of the series which was filmed in Germany, Poland and the USA, was broadcast the following year.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge also produced a thirty minute documentary on the Frankfurt Airport “Operation Airport – Interior Views from Frankfurt Airport“ in 2003.
In 2005 Manuela Kasper-Claridge was given the responsibility for the “Einstein Year“ - a special project in co-operation with DW-TV’s science magazine PROJEKT ZUKUNFT/TOMORROW TODAY, leading German scientists and the Max Planck Institute.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge’s DW-TV business magazine MADE IN GERMANY was also responsible for the series “Economists - Out and About“ and her DW-TV science magazine TOMORROW TODAY for the series “Brilliant Minds – Young Scientists in Germany“.
In 2006 she oversaw the relaunch of the Business News in DW-TV’s JOURNAL.
Also in 2006, DW-TV’s business magazine MADE IN GERMANY in co-operation with the Schwab Foundation, produced a multilingual series on the topic of “Social Entrepreneurs“ under her stewardship.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge has also moderated various podium discussions including for the Bertelsmann Foundation in 2006, and in 2007 - “Global Europe competing in the World“ at the European Anniversary Summit.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge is regularly attending regional summits of the World Economic Forum, e.g. in India and reports from the World Economic Forum summit in Davos. She initiated partnerships with the World Economic Forumand with the Schwab Foundation.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge is in the advisory board of TecTV, the webbased TV, by the Association of German Engineers (VDI). Manuela Kasper-Claridge was a member of the jury of the Telekom Magenta Awards.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge is on the board of trustees of Germany’s ifo Institute.
Manuela Kasper-Claridge is a widow and the mother of three children. She lives in Berlin.
