Manuel P. Huerta
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Manuel P. Huerta was the last known survivor and oral historian of life in the New Mexico ghost town of Shakespeare. His stories tell of a rich and imaginative history of life in the "barrio" of the "Ochentaycinco" as known to the locals. Mr. Huerta was married for 73 years one of the longest in NM history.
Like the storytellers of folklore Manuel drew on his culture and youth to draw a picture of a rich and plentiful past despite the lack of material wealth.
