Manuel Echeverría

Manuel "Ciclón" Echeverría, born on August 14, 1913 in Navojoa, Sonora, and died on October 14, 1981 in La Paz, Baja California Sur, was a Mexican baseball player.
Extraordinary right pitcher, that during 25 years gave everything what had in its arm from the pitcher's mound. When he was a boy he played for the team of the Talamante School, in local Navojoa. In 1935 he appeared in the Sonora Baseball Team, winning in the Mexico City to the San Luis Team 5-4.
In Liga de la Costa their numbers are of 82 triumphs and 54 reverses, playing several seasons with the equipment Hermosillo and Navojoa. He played with the Mexicali team in the Sunset League, obtaining 52 wins and 29 losses; in the season of 1951 its success was impressive when winning 28 games and to lose only 8, with 333 K's and 2.74 of ERA. Echeverria was designated MVP of the league.
The Baseball Stadium in Navojoa is named after him.
He died at the age of 67, while pitching in a softball game in La Paz, B.C.S.
In 1982 he was inducted to the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame
