Manuel Delgado Villegas: (b. January 25, 1943 in Sevilla - February 2, 1998) was a Spanish serial killer who alleged 48 murders but convicted for 8.

He was born in Sevilla, Spain on January 25, 1943 to a salesman father and a mother who died when Delgado was born. After his mother's death, Delgado and his sisters were raised by their grandmother and other relatives who gave many beatings to Delgado. Also, Delgado went to school but never learned to write and read. At age of 18, in 1961, Delgado enlisted to the Spanish Legion where he learned martial arts. His first crime was committed on January 21, 1964 and his last crime was committed on January 18, 1971 when he was finally arrested. [1] [2]

After being arrested, the police said that Delgado had practiced necrophilia with his victims after stealing them. Also, Delgado killed persons in Italy and France.

When Delgado was arrested, crimes like the murder of Hernández Carrasco were clarified after the police believed that it was an accident. Manuel Delgado Villegas did not have a counsel for his defense until six years after his arrest. He was never trialed because he was diagnosed with a severe mental disorder and the Audiencia Nacional of Spain ordered his internment in a medical centre.

After being interned, the medics said that he had the XYY syndrome. It could have caused his mental disorder. He was released in 1998 and died soon after of a lung disease caused by his addiction to tobacco.
