Manuel Conde

Manuel Conde (born Manuel Urbano) (August 11, 19151985) was a Filipino actor, director and producer. He made his first film, Mahiwagang Biyolin, in 1935 then later signed a contract for LVN Pictures, where he made almost three dozen films, both as an actor and director. As an actor, he used the screen name Juan Urbano during the 1930s. He is the father of renowned television comedian Jun Urbano. He died in 1985.

On December 26, 2007, the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) announced the winners of the 25th anniversary presentation of the Luna Award before the actual awards night at the Club Filipino, San Juan City on December 27. ABS-CBN's Charo Santos-Concio and Solar Entertainment's Wilson Y. Tieng won the Manuel de Leon Award. The Lamberto Avellana Memorial Award will be given posthumously to Manuel Conde and Vic Silayan.[1]
