Manu Vatuvei pronounced VAH-tu-VAY (born March 4, 1986 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a New Zealand rugby league player for the New Zealand Warriors in the National Rugby League competition. His position of choice is on the Wing. He is the cousin of Japanese Rugby Union player Ruatangi Vatuvei.

He currently leads the competition for three different statistics

  • 1. Line-Breaks - 10 (tied with Billy Slater of the Melbourne Storm
  • 2. Number of tries - 7 in 7 games
  • 3. Number of Errors - 13 in 7 games

However he is unfortunately injured with a broken tibia bone in his leg as of Round 7 (25-28 April) and will be out until Round 13.

Vatuvei made his international debut against the Kangaroos on the 16th of October, 2005. It was the opening game of the 2005 Tri-Nations, where the Kiwis beat the Kangaroos at Telstra Stadium. He later went on to play in the Tri-Nations final, scoring two tries on the way to a 24-0 victory over the Kangaroos.

He has played 11 internationals to date and scored 8 tries. So far he has played 58 games for the Warriors and scored 29 tries. He is known for his blockbusting line breaks and shuddering tackles.
