Mantua is a municipality and city in the Pinar del Río Province of Cuba.
It was founded in 1719 under the name Guane del Norte. In 1866 it was established as a municipality.[1] The settlement of Mantua is a National Monument of Cuba.[4]
The municipality is divided into the barrios of Arroyos, Bartolo, Cabezas, Coronel Pozo (Lázaro), Fidel Pedraja, Guayabo, Macurijes, Mantua, Montezuelo and Pablo Suárez.[1]

In 2004, the municipality of Mantua had a population of 26,065.[3] With a total area of 915 km² (353.3 sq mi),[2] it has a population density of 28.5/km² (73.8/sq mi).
