Mansfield Independent School District

Mansfield Independent School District is a school district headquartered in Mansfield, Texas, United States.
MISD serves Mansfield and portions of the cities of Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Burleson. The district also extends into northeastern Johnson County.
MISD has over 30 schools and District facilities. Among the facilities are four high schools, the Ben Barber Career Tech Academy, and a new competition-level stadium and natatorium complex.

In 1956, Mansfield ISD segregated African-Americans to a separate elementary school and bussed African-American high school students to a school in Fort Worth [1].
The Mansfield School desegregation incident occurred in 1956, delaying a federal court-ordered desegregation. Desegregation quietly occurred in 1965 [2].
Mansfield ISD was the last school district in the United States to desegregate.
