Manor Park is the name of an area in the London Borough of Newham, as well as of the local railway station and cemetery. There is another railway station - Woodgrange Park. The large City of London Cemetery and Crematorium is also situated here.
The area is in the London postal district of E12. Romford Road and High Street North are the main routes through the area.
The local population is now mainly Asian. It used to be a thriving white working class area, but successive immigration has transformed it. Though there are still pockets of elderly white working class - English and Irish. Newham also has a large number of ethnic minority residents and, more recently from the EU, residents from Eastern Europe.[citation needed]
Manor Park's Itchycoo Park (officially Little Ilford Park) was made famous in a song by the Small Faces, whose lead singer Steve Marriott lived in the area. Manor Park also has an amateur football team called A.C. Manor Park playing in the AFL.[clarify] Manor Park is a common place-name: there is an area in Hither Green, South London called Manor Park, and there are numerous London parks called Manor Park.
Manor Park was part of the County Borough of East Ham, Essex until 1965, when Greater London was created.
