Mannar is a small town mid way between Mavelikara and Tiruvalla. It is situated on the banks of the Pamba River.
The place is well known for its Bronze industry. Mannar is very famous for Vessels, Lamps, Bells etc. made out of Brass, Bronze and other metals. There are hundreds of traditional 'ALA'S' in Mannar. Also there are many small scale manufacturing establishments engaged in this, employing traditional workers. Parumala church, Panayannar kavu temple, Trikkuratty Mahadevar Temple, Kurattikkadu pattambalam Devi Temple, and Kunnathoor Devi Temple, are some of the important religious places in and around mannar. Panayannarkavu temple is said to be thousands of year old. The annual festival conducted at Paumala church attracts tens of thousands of devotees. It is believed that trikkuratty temple is built by Bhootangal of Lord Paramasiva. The 'Anpoli' conducted as part of festival in various temples is a very attractive and unique one.
The place also has a few well known educational institutions like Dewaswom Board Pamba college, Dewaswom Board school, Nair Samajam school, Sri Bhuvaneswari English Medium School and Good Shepherd school.
Mannar is a small town in Alappuzha District of Kerala state, India. It is bordering Pathanamthitta District. The towns of Chengannur, Thiruvalla and Mavelikara are situated almost 10 km from Mannar. Mannar is famous for its flourishing Brass industry. The place meets the lion's share of brass demand in Kerala in the form of brass lamps, vessels, statues and other utensils.
Mannar has an array of educational institutions like Dewaswom board college where graduate and post graduate courses for arts and science subjects are available. DB higher secondary school, Nair samajam higher secondary school, SB higher secondary school, Good shepherd school are some.
Some famous pilgrimage centres of the state like the Parumala church, panayannarkavu temple and Thrikkuratti temple draw a large number of people yearly to the place.
