Mannanur is a picturesque village on the banks of Bharathapuzha. The other prominent landmarks are the Railway station and the Upper primary School. This tiny hamlet has been home to many Illustrious people. Lt Col. Gangadharan Karanchery was born and brought up here though he left the place when he was 17. He was a Science Talent Scholar, and stood first in most of the Academic programs that he attended. He Joined Indian Army while pursuing Ph. D. at IIT, Bombay. Later he resigned as a Lt. Col, in order to assume the position as Managing Director of Geojit Infofin. Currently he is serving as Chairman, Information Technologies, Amrita University, Coimbatore. Other Important sons of the Soil include Mr. Sethumadhavan Nair, who was a social activist and reformer in his time. Others who have excelled in their respective fields include Mr. Pramod Kumar, Mr. Sudarshan, currently in Colorado, USA.
