Mango (clothing)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mango is a multinational Spanish company based in Barcelona, dedicated to the "design, manufacture and marketing of clothing garments and accessories for women, and now for men".

With almost 6,000 employees, Mango has more than 850 stores in 81 countries located on five continents. Expansion has gone as far as China, the Philippines, Republic of Korea and Australia. In North America Mango stores operate under the name "MNG by Mango". [1]

Recent openings have included London: (Regent St. and Oxford St.), Vienna (Kärntnerstr.), Cairo (Stars Centre) and Paris (Rue de Rivoli).

In April 2007, it was announced that Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica would be designing a 25-piece collection for the chain to include accessories [2]. The move is seen as a competitive counterpoint to the release of Madonna's collection for Swedish rival H&M and Kate Moss's collection for Topshop.

In May 2007, Mango created its first Board of Directors ever, to be chaired by Isak and Nahman Andic. All the members are partners and executive directors of Mango, who have been trained within the company.

The Board's goal is to triple its current number of stores to 3,000 within the next ten years. Last year, Mango opened 130 points of sale, focusing its growth on China, the US, Europe and Japan.[3]
