Manga Messiah is a graphic novel based on the Christian Bible(The New Testiment), written and illustrated by the group NEXT. Although it was created in Japanese,[citation needed] it was first published in English.

Manga Messiah tells the story of Jesus's life, based on the four gospels of the Bible: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

[edit] Plot/Overview

The story starts at the birth of Jesus (Yeshuah) and follows his life until his death and resurrection.

[edit] Language translations

Originally written in Japanese and immediately translated to English. Currently the English version is the only version available. The Japanese version will be released in 2008. Numerous other languages are currently being translated including Chinese, Russian, Tagalog, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

[edit] Future developments

There are plans to make 5 books in the Manga Bible series, each covering different parts of the Bible:

  • Old Testament Books
    • Manga Mutiny - Genesis through the beginning of Exodus
    • Manga Melech - David, Kings/Chronicles
    • Manga Messengers - Major and Minor Prophets
  • New Testament Books
    • Manga Messiah - Gospels (the only book completed so far)
    • Manga Metamorphosis - Acts and Epistles

[edit] Allegations of Anti-Judaism

Manga Messiah allegedly contains anti-Jewish depictions of Jews. Bruce Wilson of the Huffington Post focused on Manga Messiah in a May 29 editorial decrying the manga's extreme anti-Jewish overtones, connecting it with Christian anti-Judaism in general.[1](65.10.55.42 (talk) 14:18, 2 June 2008 (UTC))
