The Mang Gorn Luang also known as The Royal Dragon is a restaurant that opened in October 1991 that can serve 5,000 patrons, covers 8.3 acres and is operated by 1,200 staff including 541 waiters and waitresses, and 322 chefs.[citation needed] The restaurant offers over 1,000 dishes on the menu in Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Western cuisine.[citation needed] In 1995 it was reported that nearly 9,979 kg. (2,200 lb.) of seafood was served every day.[citation needed] When operating at full capacity, the kitchen can produce 3,000 dishes in an hour.[citation needed] The building itself takes on the appearance of Chinese architecture, with sloping roofs of orange-red tiles.[citation needed] The waiting staff wear roller-skates when conducting service.[citation needed] The restaurant held the title as the largest restaurant in the world, as established by the Guinness World Records in its 1992 edition.[citation needed] On May 29, 2008, the title was given to the Bawabet Dimashq, a restaurant in Damascus, Syria that serves 6,014 people.[citation needed]
