Coordinates: 22°11′N 75°40′E / 22.18, 75.67 Mandleshwar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Khargone district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is a town of historical and religious importance situated in Khargone district, on the banks of Narmada River at a distance of 8 km east from Maheshwar and 99 km south from Indore.

The town was founded by Mandana Mishra, and has a stone fort constructed by Muslim rulers. At present, this fort is used for Jail. It also has a fine flight of 123 steps leading down to the river and expanding below into a wide ghat. This Ghat is called as RAM GHAT.Tukoji Rao Holkar II built a palace here. It was also the headquarters of the Nimar Agency and cantonment under the British from 1819 to 1864. The town is an important retail marketing and trade centre. Mandleshwar is not even a Tehsil place still it has District Court. Maheshwar is just 8 km from here.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Mandleshwar had a population of 11,345. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mandleshwar has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 59%. In Mandleshwar, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Mandleshwar in now a remarkable place for hydro power generation. Maheshwar Hydro-electric Project (10 X 40 MW) is being constructed by the MW Corp an entity promoted by the Kasliwal family.The project site lies between Mandleshwar and Jalud, just 8km from the project site is the historic city of Maheshwar This is the third Hydropower plant on River Narmada and the last one in Madhya Pradesh. On the upstream of Maheshwar Hydropower Plant are two large projects Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar which have already been commissioned. On the down stream of the project we have the sardar Sarovar project which is in Gujrat.

Mandleshwar has famous Dattatraya Temple. Many devotees come here twice a year for Datta Jayanti and Narsimha Saraswti Jayanti. Other famous places includes Ram Temple, Hanuman Temple. Jalud is just 4 km from here. Indore gets drinking water from Jalud . Jalud has pumping and water purification plant. Water is pumped from here to Indore. In mandleshwar a hydro-electric dam is also constructed named as Maheshwar Jal Vidyut Pariyojna.
