As of 2001 India census,[2] Mancherial had a population of 70,231. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mancherial has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 57%. In Mancherial, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

- Mancherail is the second biggest city in Adilabad Dist(First is Adilabad).
- Mancherial is a commercial hub catering to the coal belt of Singareni collieries.
- A cement plant earlier the ACC ltd., and belonging to Shyam Sunder Agarwalis located here.
- It is located on the north bank of the Godavari river.
Hospitals and nursing homes in the town in both the private and Government sector cater to a wide area and diverse population, including miners, tribals and farmers from the surrounding areas. Visiting specialists from Hyderabad and Warangal serve the area well.
- it is on the main north south railway route from Delhi to madras. the major junctions up north are the wardha in maharashtra and kazipet to the south.

it has 6 Cinema Theatres and 3 theatres are located in CCC Colony., and Venkateswara temple and Saibaba temples are famous here, Hanuman temple also.
It has all the major bank branches like SBI, SBH, HDFC, ICICI, AXIS, Andhra Bank.
In and around 5 kilometre distance form Mancherial, Shirkey Colony, Nagarjuna and New Nagarjuna quarters located. These quarters are provided by government to facilitate Singareni employees.Two good and neatly maintained parks are surrounded by these colonies. A swimming pool, Church and Geeta Dhyana Mandiram in C.C.C area.

Mancherial is well connected by road from various major parts of India like Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad, Hyderabad, Guntur, Vijayawada, Nagpur, Shirdi.
NH-16(Nizamabad to Jagadalpur) passes through Mancherail.

Mancherail railway station is located on the one of the biggest railway line in India (Delhi-Chennai ). It is well connected by rail from various metro cities in India.

Nearest Airport to the Mancherail is Hyderabad International airport Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (250km by road, 3hrs of journey by train(AP Exp)). There is also one proposal to construct new airport at Basanth nagar(ramagundam) which is 20-30 km from Mancherial. Once it is operational, it could be the nearest airport.
