A Manaschi is a traditional reciter of the Epic of Manas, the centrepiece of Kyrgyz literature. Manaschis are respected, as the epic they tell consits of nearly half a million lines. Manaschis are often accompanied by Komuz players. A famous Manaschi is Rysbek Jumabaev.
