Manadhoo (Dhivehi: މަނަދޫ) is the capital of Noonu Atoll in the Maldives.Manadhoo is the third most populous island in Noonu Atoll.

The island of Manadhoo measuring approx 92.20 hectors, which has a very natural harbor surrounded by natural seawalls and the island lies the south east end of the atoll. According to formation of the atoll, the island lies in the position which is most convenient and accessible for the other inhabited islands.

Since the Island is the capital of the Noonu atoll and the 3rd largest population of the atoll and most of the government offices have been establish, the major available land is uninhabited. Main livelihood of the population depends on construction carpentry work civil service, tourism, fishing and private business.

The Atoll office, Island office, District court, Atoll Development Committee (ADC) Guest House, ADC Pharmacy, NADP office, Noonu Atoll School, Noou Atoll Hospital, and upcoming Atoll Media Center contributes the infrastructure of the island.

Little information is available on the ancient people and their way of life. Evidence suggests that Manadhoo has been populated and thriving as early as the 4th century BC. It is argued that the earliest settlers migrated from Arabia, eastern Africa and the Indian subcontinent among other places. Today, the Manaduans are a mixed race as in any part of the Maldives.

manaduans are a friendly, hospitable and peace loving people, at the same time reserved and in control of their emotions. Friendliness and honesty are taken for granted in Manadhoo where old customs and Muslim traditions are respected while allowing the necessary changes for life style to be compatible with the modern development.

Traditionally education in the Manadhoo, was limited to the basic literacy skills; namely the recital of the Holy Quran, reading and writing the Dhivehi language.The modern system of English medium education was introduced in 1997.

Dhivehi is the language spoken in the Manadhoo. Spoken only in the Maldives, Dhivehi belongs to the Indo-European family of languages. It has numerous loanwords from Tamil, Malayalam, Singhalese, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Portuguese and English.

The Manadhoo has recorded significant achievement in human development.

Islam is the official religion of the Republic of Maldives. To be a Manaduan( people of Manadhoo) is to be a Muslim.
