Signing off

Just wanted to mention that signing off posts made on the notice board seems like a better idead... =) --Andylkl 19:01, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Current events in Malaysia and Singapore?

What do you people think of collaborating on a project on that, or do you think they can survive as two seperate pages?--Huaiwei 18:09, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

The page Current events in Malaysia and Singapore has been setup; if interested, please contribute.  :-) -Vsion 22:41, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
Looks good, good job on it! --Andylkl (talk) 20:04, July 22, 2005 (UTC)

Merger

I have proposed for the merger of the articles Malaysian National Service and National service in Malaysia in Wikipedia:Duplicate articles. Do assist in the merger process, or voice any objections to the move.--Huaiwei 11:25, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

No problems with the merger here. :) --Andylkl (talk) 20:04, July 22, 2005 (UTC)
Great, but I am not too syre which page title is preferred. Is the former an official terminology since I see a Malay translation of it?--Huaiwei 05:26, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

Deletion list

Hi folks,

I just wanted to let you know about a list of Malaysia-related Votes for Deletion. At the moment there is only one item on it, but since Malaysia-related articles do turn up regularly on VfD it may be worth watching. The list is here. Please use it, and help keep it up to date.

By the way, lots of help is needed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting.

Cheers,

Opinions needed at current events

User:Andylkl and I has recently introduced mini flags in the Current events in Malaysia and Singapore page to help function as little geographical markers. While he initially introduced only the national flags of the two countries, I experimented with adding Malaysian state flags as well so as to break some "monotony" or overal blandness of the list. In Talk:Current events in Malaysia and Singapore however, Andylkl says that he does find it a uncustomary to have state and country flags listed together like this, a valid concern as some may consider it a breach of flag protocol.

What do the rest of you think about it? Please contribute your views in Talk:Current events in Malaysia and Singapore! ;)--Huaiwei 18:57, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

Opinions On Political Parties Category

I have recently started a discussion to determine content guidelines in Category : Political parties in Malaysia. I am also trying to set up some templates for articles in this category as a start. Please contribute your views in Category talk:Political parties in Malaysia. Thanks. --Bob K 11:19, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Automated entry for Portal:Malaysia and Portal:Singapore?

Hey, I notice that Portal:Malaysia and Portal:Singapore are being neglected but Current events in Malaysia and Singapore is being actively updated. Is there a way to automatically do an update for news on each portal and then send in those news to Current events in Malaysia and Singapore automatically? Like, doing the entry just once instead of having to do it twice (i.e. once at the portal and another at Current events in Malaysia and Singapore)? __earth (Talk) 10:07, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Did you know... Lillian Too

Hello, I managed to get my Lillian Too article featured on the "Did you know" section on the Main Page. If you can help improve the article, it would be great. I have also written to get permission to use her photo in the article (in case you are going to write to me about its copyright status). Cheers. -- S Masters 09:16, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Actually permission-only images are verboten. The image is probably fine as it is with a fair use rationale added. What would be good is if permission was obtained to reuse the image under a free licence such as the GFDL or a free Creative Commons licence (such as the CC attribution or CC attribution sharealike licences). Johnleemk | Talk 11:54, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm new to this so I wasn't sure what to do. But someone wrote me a note warning me that the image would be deleted so I decided to write for permission. In future, if I want to add a fair use rationale, how do I do it? And what do I select from the Licensing drop-down menu? There doesn't seem to be anything suitable there to use for fair use. Thanks. -- S Masters 15:18, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Malaysia or Malaya?

Someone has edited the Lillian Too page and changed the place she was born from Malaysia to Malaya. I disagee with the edit and wrote on the editor's talk page.

I have not received a reply so far. Do you think I should revert it back to Malaysia or leave it as Malaya? -- S Masters 06:13, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Sungai Besi Airport and RAF Kuala Lumpur

Are these two the same airport. Also while looking for the airport data for Sungai Besi I found that the major sources list it either as Kuala Lumpur or Simpang, again. Does anyone know what is the correct/most used name and should one be a redirect to the other? Also the last external link says that it's located at a city called Simpang but I can't find that either. Thanks for any help. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 10:16, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I think that the two airports are actually the same. It would be more common to refer to it as Sungai Besi Airport or "TUDM airport" than RAF Kuala Lumpur - actually I've never heard somebody refer to the airport as RAF Kuala Lumpur. It may be the British colonial period name as the "RAF" in the name may refer to the British Royal Air Force. Joshua Chiew 13:53, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Kuala Lumpur Int'l and RAF Kuala Lumpur are the same airfield. RAF KL was the centre for anti terrorist ops during the emergency. I was stationed there for two and a half years from 1955 -1958. The only Int'l flights in those days were the daily visits by Singapore airways Dakotas (DC3) and the twice weekly BOAC (Now British Airways) with Constellatios and later Brittania Turbo-props. Help with translations

I'm currently working on a script intended to create short articles on political parties on a variety of wikipedias simultaneously. However, in order for the technique to work I need help with translations to various languages. If you know any of the languages listed at User:Soman/Lang-Help , then please help by filling in the blanks. For example I need help with Bahasa Melayu. Thanks, --Soman 12:14, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

List of Malaysia-related topics

A List of Malaysia-related topics is created; this is useful when used with the Related changes tool at the sidebar to monitor changes in these articles. --Vsion 08:07, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Removing MiTV from the list.

I think MiTV should be removed from the Wikipedia:Malaysia-related topics notice board#TV Stations in Malaysia because the title there says (The following needs attention) and MiTV has already been expanded by me (major-edit) so that's why I think it should be removed from there. Thank you. Acs4b (talk) - 03:09, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Floods in Malaysia, Singapore and Sumatra

Dear Malaysian Wikipedians,

In the coming weeks, several editors from WikiProject Meteorology and Singapore, with some from Indonsia will be collaborating on a major article pertaining to the current December 2006 floods on the Malay Peninsula, including Singapore, and Sumatra. There are several issues which we must clear up before the creation of this article, including fixing the appropriate nomenclature and scope for the article. Please consider helping out in this collaboration. A sandbox and talkpage have been created. On a separate note, here's wishing all of you a merry Christmas. - SpLoT (*C*+u+g) 05:47, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Photo requested of Highland Towers

Can anyone take a photo of the Highland Towers site as it is now? I read the blocks were left alone and am curious to see how they look now. Also, the article needs photos. Resurgent insurgent 2007-04-22 00:40Z

Hey, it's not really that hard to drive there than take a few pictures (I can't. I take trains only). What's with the lack of responses? Too lazy to even bother? - Two hundred percent 06:29, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
