[edit] FEES

I think it would be a good idea if someone who knows listed the price of admission to this public school in the info box. This should be done with all private (public) schools in my opinion to compare how much each school costs to enter. Tremello22 14:41, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Number of Alumni

Total Alumni To Date 580

Surely not...--195.92.67.74 16:11, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chris Phillips

Was Chris Phillips, ice hockey player for the Ottawa Senators, really at Malvern? This sounds incredibly implausible to me, as he was captain of Alberta by the age of 17.[1]

Looking at the page history, someone first added an unidentified Chris Phillips, and then someone else added "hockey player" to it. I strongly suspect it was originally a vanity link, which someone else misinterpreted. But I thought I'd give other people a chance to speak up before removing it.

No response, so I removed it. Stephen Turner (Talk) 13:30, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pederasty/CS Lewis

The inclusion of the quotation from CS Lewis about pederasty adds a note of serious imbalance to this article. It gives a disproportionate emphasis in an article that's fairly short and does not elsewhere go into detail about the ethos of the school.

I assume that the sexual culture of Malvern College wasn't much different to many other schools of the same character - and if I'm right then the remark should be qualified accordingly. If this isn't a solution, the remark should be removed to restore the article to some kind of balance - or a great deal more material should be added to give a more balanced picture. As it stands, it seems like an embittered remark by a former pupil assumes a disproportionate significance. Pgg7 09:30, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree (although much of the rest of the article sounds like a press release, but that's another story). It sounds like it was written by someone with an agenda of some sort. I've considerably shortened it as an immediate step. Stephen Turner (Talk) 10:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
You're right about the press release quality of much of the rest. I'm not in a position to do anything about that, I fear. Pgg7 20:39, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Substantial changes

I have attacked this article to remove press release material and pederasty and clean up some other things.Chapwithwings 10:05, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Good work, thank you. I've edited it a little more to put the history in a more logical (one might say, chronological) order. Stephen Turner (Talk) 11:10, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] School colours

Green and white? Is this accurate? Every House has its own colours!Chapwithwings 10:05, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trains

Does the most recent revision - about trains - really belong here? Chapwithwings 12:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

The person has added it to dozens of schools: Special:Contributions/Kwib. It seems pretty much like trivia to me, in the context of this article. I wouldn't mind losing it. Stephen Turner (Talk) 12:30, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Malcol.png

Image:Malcol.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The fair use restrictions seem to be becoming stricter every time I check, but I believe I've dealt with this for the moment. I've put the image on my watchlist too. Stephen Turner (Talk) 10:12, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Website warning and removal

Hi. I've removed the website as, when I tried to access it, my computer stopped me because of browser exploit. I thought it was best, seeing as it isn't Wikipedia's role to direct people to get a virus. See [2] St91 (talk) 17:55, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't get this. The link you give refers to a different site, and they say Malvern College is clean: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/malvern-college.co.uk . I'm sure you acted with good intentions, but I'm going to restore it. Stephen Turner (Talk) 20:37, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I did it again and the link came up green rating, so I clicked on the two pictures at the side, and McAfee doesn't even let me onto the page, citing Browser Exploit. I've screenshotted the page and put it onto Flickr. Please see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24953438@N06/2354098127/

I'm still confused, because your screenshot refers to googlerank.info. That site does seem to be a bad site, but I can't find any references to googlerank.info on malvern-college.co.uk. Stephen Turner (Talk) 16:23, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Ok. The thing with this is this - when you go onto the link for the college that Wikipedia shows, you go to Malvern College's home page. On either side are two pictures - one takes you to the Prep school page, the other to the Senior school page. Now, which ever of these you pick, McAfee block the page citing, as I said, browser exploit. My personal opinion (which could well be completely wrong) is that M. College have used GoogleRank.info to promote their site on the Internet in search results, without knowing of their error. Now, as I say, that could be spot on right, or a load of old cobblers, but now can you see what I mean? St91 (talk) 23:22, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I see what you mean, but neither of those pages mentions googlerank.info as far as I can see. Stephen Turner (Talk) 21:27, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] J. I. M. Stewart

I know a man of about fifty who claims that J. I. M. Stewart was his English teach at Malvern College, which would have been in about the 1970s. Did he do this in his retirement?--Oxonian2006 (talk) 11:43, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
