The mall is supposed to have 1,400 shops, 10,400 car park spaces and 5.6 million sq ft leasable space in phase 1 alone! Customers per year and sales turnover are yet to be determined. Given that it is part of a Dubailand project with an estimated local population of 2.5 M, and the world's largest theme park phase 1 should proceed as planned, as should phase 2. Opening in early/mid 2008. However three other huge malls are also being built in Dubai in 2007 so the developers will modify things if they can't lease space or want to stay as Nos 1.

This is going to end up like the debates on the world's tallest building... will the Mall of Arabia be the largest mall in the world based on retail space? number of stores? customers per year? sales turnover? --Madchester July 7, 2005 06:16 (UTC)
