[edit] Delete?

There is precious little information here. Once the discussion of a possible merge of Sex-selective abortion and infanticide and Sex selection is done, I'll probably suggest deleting this stub. Mdbrownmsw 18:02, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

I added wiki links, but frankly I have never heard of this happening in any widespread fashion for cultural reasons, though obviously individuals may practice it, though probably usually because they already have a bunch of boys and don't want any more or just are mentally ill.

A quick search only found articles about ANIMALS engaging in this practice. Female infanticide, of course, is widely practiced in China and India and other nations, and has a long history. So I'd say unless someone immediately sources this article -- or makes it an article about animals that kill male babies - we should bring this to the deletion page. PS: If actual sources about ancient uses can be found, fine, since I'm sure even today it is practiced in war with killing of male children. But sources sources sources!!! Carol Moore 17:41, 23 October 2007 (UTC)User:Carolmooredc User talk:Carolmooredc

Classic source is Exodus 1: the killing of Hebrew children at the order of Pharaoh. Also Matthew 2, where the motivation is political rather than one of population control. Koro Neil (talk) 09:02, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I agree, this page requires sources in order to keep this page 72.70.1.46 (talk) 22:52, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

I also suggest we delete this ASAP... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.197.146.191 (talk) 04:16, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sources

A quick Google search revealed several sources for male infanticide in humans, both historically and currently. I am sure that those with a specialist library would be able to find lots more. Espresso Addict 13:41, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Would help to include some of the actual content of those sites as well, since they evidently are NOT referencing content of this article, by some other content.
