Malvaviscus palmanus is an understory tree of the Costa Rican cloud forest.[1] It is two to five meters in height. It grows at elevations of 1500 to 1600 meters above sea level. Like several other species in its genus, it has large red flowers, which are pollinated by hummingbirds.
