Maloof Productions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Maloof Productions is an American entertainment development and production company formed by the Maloof family in 2004. The company, led by Chairman and CEO Phil Maloof and President Andrew Jameson, focuses on film, television and music.
The company's television division, Maloof Television, is perhaps best known for producing Bullrun, a primetime reality series that aired in Spring 2007 on Spike TV.[1] Along with George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh, the division also recently produced an HBO comedy pilot focusing on a fictional NBA team.[2]
Maloof Motion Pictures, the company’s film division, produced Dimension Film's Feast in conjunction with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Wes Craven. The film was released theatrically in September of 2006 and was named a "Must-See" film for Fall by Entertainment Weekly.[3] The division is currently at work on its next project, The Big Biazarro, a drama based on the Leonard Wise novel, to star Pierce Brosnan, from a script by Vondie Curtis-Hall. [4]
In addition to film and television production, Maloof Productions has spearheaded the entertainment outreach for the Maloof properties. The company brokered partnerships with 20th Century Fox, Columbia Pictures and Dimension Films for the world premieres of Elektra, Deuce Bigalo: European Gigalo and Feast respectively at the Palms Casino and Resort. It was also instrumental in integrating Maloof Music artist Narwhal into both the Feast soundtrack and the film itself.
In June 2008, it was rumored that Maloof Productions was in talks to sign Jive recording artist, Britney Spears onto their label. Speculation began after Britney met with George Maloof multiple times in May 2008 to talk business. A meeting with David Geffen in June only helped the rumors gain more credibility--all records put out by Maloof Productions get distributed through David Geffen's Interscope label. At the present time, Jive Records and Spears manager, Larry Rudolph, have remained quiet about changes going on behind the scenes. [5]
