The largest private avenue in Ireland and Britain. Located in Belfast in Northern Ireland it has 72 houses. Holds the Belfast record for most expensive house sale to date at £3.8 million. But that house has recently gone back on the market, and which probably will not get the same amount as the house prices are slowly falling. The majority of the houses are Victorian and have large grounds surrounding the houses. There are two gate lodges one at the top and one at the Lisburn Road end. The Lisburn Road end is blocked off and so is the Balmoral Avenue gate. Traffic can only enter from the Malone Road end, the road is lined by Lime Trees with grass verges outside every house. Malone Park is also known as Lime Avenue. Traditionally it was home to Protestants who owned large linen mills throughout Belfast, it is now generally regarded as a mixed area.
