Malnad College of Engineering

Malnad College of Engineering (MCE) is an engineering college located in Hassan, Karnataka, India. The college was established during 1960, in the later part of the Third Five-year plans of India, as a joint venture of the Government of India, Government of Karnataka, and the Malnad Technical Education Society. The institution is affiliated to the Viswesvaraya Technological University, in Belgaum. The college was initially affiliated to University of Mysore before Viswesvaraya Technological University was instituted.
The college conducts nine undergraduate courses and five postgraduate courses with more than 3,000 students studying in various disciplines. The college is built on a campus of about 40 acres and has all the facilities required of a model technical education center. It has been awarded the Best Engineering College award by the Government of Karnataka.[citation needed]

Malnad college of Engineering was established during 1960, in the later part of the Third Five Year Plan, as a joint venture of the Government of India, Government of Karnataka and Malnad Technical Education Society, Hassan. The college was initially affiliated to University of Mysore and later moved to Viswesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. Currently the college conducts 9 Under Graduate courses and 6 Post Graduate courses with more than 3000 students studying in various disciplines. In the year 2007 college has become autonomous. Presently Malnad college of engineerings has Maximum number of PhD holders.

The college has a library and a reference section. The library gets several journals in various fields of science, engineering and technology. In addition to this, each department has a sparse in-house library.

The college has a Placement and Training Department to train and assist the students in securing jobs under Campus Recruitment Scheme. Firms such as TCS, MindTree Ltd, Hexaware (Oracle), i-Flex solutions, Accenture,Infosys, TVS, Wipro, MphasiS-BFL, MICO, Ashok Leyland, BPL Telecom, L&T, and IT Solutions visit the campus regularly to select the engineers in making for their organizations. Military recruitments are also made from time to time.

There are postgraduate courses in 6 disciplines, namely:
- M.Tech in Digital Electronics & Communication Systems (DECS)
- M.Tech in Computer Applications in Industrial Drives (CAID)
- M.Tech in Computer Aided Design of Structures (CADS)
- M.Tech in Electrical Energy Systems (EES)
- M.Tech in Industrial Automation & Robotics (IAR) and
- MCA (Master of Computer Applications)
