Mall Cop is a comedy movie due to start shooting in late March 2008. The story centers around a mall security guard who becomes an unlikely hero when his mall is taken hostage by a group of thieves. The movie will begin shooting in Boston[1]. Principal shooting will take place at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA. From late March until mid-April, the mall and its stores will be decorated with Christmas decorations, and there will be a large prop ball-pit in the main foyer of the mall. Shooting will take place mostly at night. The South Shore Plaza in Braintree, MA was the location of subsequent shooting. The cop is played by Kevin James with Keir O'Donnell as his counterpart. Ugly Betty star Jayma Mays plays James' love interest[2]. The movie is directed by Steve Carr.

Possible characters include villian "Zamboni Fred", Dep. Porter, and security guard/ mole Sprier. [1]

[edit] Plot Summary

(This section includes speculations)

The film's opening includes a karaoke scene (filmed at Joe's American Bar & Grill) which introduces all the characters, as reported by extras at the South Shore Plaza. The "Surf & Skate" store as well as the "Boots & Bags" stores were created as sets in the Braintree Plaza at the sites of former stores. Other shooting locations included Champs (a sports clothing retailer) and the HallMark store, both actual stores at South Shore Plaza.

Several scripts were left at the South Shore Plaza, labeled "Section A". These scripts are most likely legit, although could be part of a viral advertising campaign similar to the fake scripts which surfaced in Hull, Massachusetts[disambiguation needed] for Shutter Island (also a Columbia Picture). This campaign, however, originated with the film crew of Shutter Island, and so is likely an isolated event.

The following is a summary of this unverified script: Agent Sprier provides comic relief, playing the play boy security guard who seduces female mall employs and repeats two catch phrases: "Spriers here- to light your fire" and "Did someone ask for...Sprier?" This character has been referenced on other sites as a secret antagonist.

The script also introduced villian Zamboni Fred/ Vex who is able to break into the mall through his job of setting up the skating rink.

Deputy Porter follows the rules, and takes his job "way too seriously."
