Malden is a city in Dunklin County, Missouri, United States. The population was 4,782 at the 2000 census.
The Malden airport is a former air force base and has three 5,000 foot runways.

Malden is fortunate in having one of the largest general aviation airports in the State of Missouri. Malden is listed in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS), which identifies airports that are significant to national transportation. The Malden Regional Airport was an Air Force Base from 1942 to 1960, as operated by the military and then under civilian contracts. Malden Army Airfield Preservation Society (MAAPS) is an organization that works to preserve the past of the Malden Army Airfield. The MAAPS Military Museum is located in the airport's terminal building and MAAPS also maintains a Veterans Wall of Honor.
Malden's runways can handle most corporate aircraft. Executives have the advantage of flying directly into Malden and not have a long commute from a distant airport.

As of the census[1] of 2006, there were 6,782 people, 1,914 households, and 1,261 families residing in the city. The population density was 770.4 people per square mile (297.3/km²). There were 2,101 housing units at an average density of 338.5/sq mi (130.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 73.30% White, 24.07% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 1.67% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.92% of the population.
There were 1,914 households out of which 31.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.2% were married couples living together, 19.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 30.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 81.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 76.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $22,910, and the median income for a family was $27,819. Males had a median income of $30,671 versus $16,920 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,475. About 22.9% of families and 27.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 37.4% of those under age 18 and 25.7% of those age 65 or over.
The public school system is a 3A designated school for athletics (2A for football). The mascot is the Green Wave, and the last state championship was obtained in basketball (1985).
Malden High School also has an award-winning Beta club. It has won the state group talent competition for the last seven years in a row, and in 2008, Samantha Green was elected state Beta president from Malden High School
Malden is the home of the Bootheel Youth Museum. This is a hands-on, activity-based museum. It has grown over the past few years and has passed the 100,000 visitor mark last year. It is a great resource for the school and also the districts around. The latest addition is the Lewis and Clark site.
