Gets is the son of Lisbeth Gets, a special education teacher and school administrator, and Terence Gets, a college textbook representative. Both parents grew up in London, UK. He has an older brother, Eric; an older sister, Allison; and a younger sister.
Gets skipped two years of K-12 education and graduated from Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Florida, aged 16.
