From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Malcolm Dunford was a successful New Zealand soccer player who frequently represented his country in the 1980s and 90s. A centre back, New Zealand was lucky with Dunford amongst a number of fine central defenders including Bobby Almond (a stalwart of New Zealand's successful 1982 World Cup Campaign), Ricki Herbert and Ceri Evans. Dunford was lucky enough to captain his nation on numerous occasions and eventually retired his captaincy and national duties in 1993. He finished his playing career for the All Whites with 68 caps. Dunford is the proud father of Stasio and Jasio Dunford as well as a daughter. 'The boys are very good soccer players' Malcolm said when asked about his two gifted sons. 'I'm thinking that in the present future they will be playing for no one less than say Manchester United or Liverpool'. The two boys play for the money taking Bulleen Veneto Club and are expecting a move to Europe in a few more years.
