The Malayalam wikipedia is the malayalam language edition of wikipedia.It has started on 2002 December 21.Malayalam wikipedia is far ahead from other indian language wikipedias in page depth, average edit per page, number of registered users, number of uploaded images.presently it contains more than 6000(from 08-04-2008) articles.

Although different malayalam language unicode fonts are available for old and new malayalam lipi(only a slight difference is there),most users opt for AnjaliOldLipi font which follows old malayalam writing style. Earlier days users adopted specialised malayalam unicode input tools based on Varamozhy keyboard which is a phonetic translation keyboard.Inscript keyboard also preferred by some users.Now malayalam wikipedia having an inbuilt input tool integrated with it.
